Assume two web pages are pretty much identical in terms of on-page factors. Both have strong, relevant content, well written, key-phrase rich meta tags and image alt tags and both have well structured URLs. How does a search engine know which site is “better” and so which site to rank above the other. There are many off-page criteria that search engines use but perhaps the most important is the number of back links (inbound links) from other websites to your website.
In essence, search engines consider the fact that a website has seen fit to link their website to yours as a vote of confidence in your website; the more links, the more votes you get and the better your page ranks in natural search results.
Are All Links The Same?
Definitely not. Search engines are not merely concerned with the quantity of links to your website but perhaps more importantly the quality and relevance of the links. For example, a link to your website from a national newspaper’s website (will have a high PR value) in the middle of an article with much content that relates to your website with some of your most important keywords in the anchor text of the link is a highly valued link and will seriously improve your website’s position. On the other hand, if you run an equestrian centre and get a link from the “links” page of a ballet dancing association’s website with a low PR (no relevance at all to your website), the benefit to your site is pretty useless and may even be damaging.
Links need to be:
- From Relevant Websites or the relevant section of a directory website
- Ideally from high PR websites
- Ideally from the home page of the website
- Surrounded by content / key-phrases that relate to your website
- Ideally have some of your keywords in the anchor text
(aside: do a google search for “Click Here” and the top result is a page where you can download the latest version of Adobe Reader. This page does not have the words “click here” anywhere on it or in its meta tags. So why is it in position 1 for “click here”? The answer is that there are many, many thousands of websites all over the internet that link to this page with anchor text “Click Here.” This shows the importance of ensuring anchor text of links is populated with relevant keywords)
Outsourcing Link Building to DPFOC
Building many thousand high quality, relevant, one-way links is a massively time consuming, laborious task that, frankly, performing in a high cost economy makes absolutely no sense. Link building in a high cost economy makes as much sense as opening a shoe manufacturing plant in the centre of London. Our link builders are third level graduates, vastly experienced, continually researching latest trends / techniques and can rightly consider themselves among the very best in the world at what they do. As our link building services cost a fraction of doing the same work in a high cost economy, return on investment in link building in a low cost economy is necessarily higher as the same amount and quality of links costs much less.
DPFOC’s experienced SEO executives will painstakingly build many thousands of one way links to your website often blowing your competition right out of the way who only have a handful of links.
Recording / Monitoring Rank Improvements as Links grow
DPFOC has built up much expertise in recording three key things for our SEO clients:
1) Web Based Link Tracker:
Every link we attempt to build for you is logged at a customised, web-based link tracker.
2) SERP (Search Engine Results Page Reporting)
We identify the keywords and phrases that matter to your business and identify where your website is ranking for each one at the end of each month. This gives you total visibility into the concrete results our link building efforts are having.
3) Traffic Increases / Google Analytics:
As your web pages move further up the results page, the traffic to your site increases as a result. We create Google Analytics Accounts for all of our clients which offers extremely rich, user friendly reporting on the traffic volume that your site is getting, where it is coming from geographically and where on the net (search engines, directory websites, paid search etc), bounce rates (percentage of visitors leaving your website after viewing just one page), conversion rates and much more functionality that ensures total visibility into your website’s traffic.
